Current situation: Coronavirus information (COVID-19)
The psychology pratice is open. To prevent coronavirus, various measures have been put in place:
- In the discussion area, the seat distance between the psychologist and the clients is approximately 2.5 m. For certain activities carried out at the table with children and adolescents (e.g. when carrying out assessments), this distance is 1.5 m.
- A disinfectant hand spray is available to clients. They disinfect their hands before entering the consultation room.
- The objects and materials used when working with children/adolescents are disinfected after each use.
- The "free play" corner has been removed, to avoid the presence of toys used by many children.
- A disinfectant spray for surfaces is regularly applied in sensitive areas (WC, washbasin, door handles, chairs).
- We ask clients to come at the scheduled time, in order to prevent previous and next clients from crossing paths, or more than one family in the waiting area at the same time.

Teenagers

Preparation for applications

This is for teenagers or young adults who wish to apply for an apprenticeship, training or job.

I carry out an assessment with a professional focus so that the teenager or young adult becomes aware of his personality, interests and predisposions, abilities and potentials concerning his personal and professional profile. I will help him or her to prepare the application documents (curriculum vitae / CV, motivation letter, etc.) so that they correspond to their profile as well as the one of the envisaged position. I also accompany the preparation for job interviews with advice, discussions and role-plays.

This service is offered in partnership with the CACB Center for Assessment and Coaching. My experience in preparation for applications is based, among other things, on my work in this company as well as in the field of work and youth psychology.

Assessment for teenagers

We perform tests, questionnaires and other tools that enable the young people to be assessed in different situations in order to recognize their strengths and weaknesses, also in comparison to other young people of their age. Sometimes the parents come with the desire for a general assessment, in other cases individual or several elements of it can be proposed in the course of the meetings. The various possibilities for determining the situation and options are described below.

Career guidance and professional orientation

It makes it possible to highlight the young person's preferences, abilities and potentials and is carried out by means of conversations, tests, questionnaires and role-playing. This allows a detailed statement to be made in various areas, including personality, interests, reasoning, concentration, resilience, social competence and creativity.

Intellectual or cognitive assessment

The tests for the detection of intellectual abilities allow analysis and assessment in different areas such as language, logic, memory, attention, visual and spatial orientation, working speed as well as in other dimensions. Some of these tests – but not all – allow you to calculate an Intelligence Quotient (IQ). This is, however, always to be analyzed and interpreted in the context of the overall situation of the adolescent, the tests performed, and the personality profile, for example in the case of an impulsive adolescent, in the case of blockages or when the results are not homogeneous in different areas. We may also perform tests are neuropsychologically oriented and help to discuss difficulties in learning or neurological specificities more precisely.

Personality or psycho-affective assessment

By means of questionnaires we can get an insight into the various areas of personality, interests and attitudes, reactions, etc. There are also less structured and more creative tools in which the young person can freely express himself; these also make it possible to highlight the personality as well as the affective (emotional) development.

Diagnostic Assessments

I also offer diagnostic procedures that can be used to determine most of the diagnosable development disorders. Likewise, I can give you guidance and advice with regard to a diagnosis that has been or would be given.

Coaching for teenagers

In guided and structured sessions, I offer the young people various discussion topics, exercises and methods in relation to the difficulties that have led them to me and the goals we have formulated together (also with the parents) at the beginning.

In case you are not sure whether to consider coaching or psychotherapy, I can give you advice and recommendations. Psychotherapy is usually indicated in more difficult situations when the emotional situation is very complex and a deepened, possibly also medically accompanied, treatment is indicated. Coaching, on the other hand, is recommended for people who already have a certain level of stability and wish to develop their abilities and potentials.

Guidance and professional orientation

In order to assist the young people in their choice of career or study, I work with them to develop an individual and detailed assessment, focusing on professional orientation. This allows a broad and in-depth analysis of the abilities and potentials in the different areas as well as the interests and predispositions as well as strengths and weaknesses. This allows concrete recommendations with regard to the appropriate vocational, school or university education or training. If the young person already has certain ideas concerning professions or studies, we can compare them with the results of the assessment and connect them. Orientation counseling helps with both short-term decisions and a medium- and longer-term planning, as concrete statements on personal development as well as the relevant framework conditions can be made.

Depending on the situation, support for this orientation can lead to a coaching, for example with the aim to help the young people to free up their potential and to use and develop their talents as well as skills in the concrete everyday life. A particular attention may be drawn to reactions or behavior that have a negative impact on personal development.
